Blunt Extends Assistance to Help Lake Area Recover from Winter Storm
JEFFERSON CITY–Governor Matt Blunt today issued Executive Order 06-50 to extend the state of emergency declaration and allow for temporary waivers to assist with ongoing cleanup efforts following this month’s winter storm. The order is essential for the lake area where boat and dock recovery and clean-up is expected to take at least another month.
“The order I issued today is critical to ensure the lake area has the tools needed for clean up and recovery to minimize the potentially crippling economic impact of the recent winter storms on travel and tourism,” Blunt said. “In addition to important clean-up continuing in the lake area, granting these extensions allows all affected communities to continue removing debris generated by this storm.”
Executive Order 06-50 extends order 06-46 declaring a state of emergency and order 06-48 allowing the director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to temporarily suspend the operation of statutory or administrative rules and regulations to help expedite storm cleanup and recovery efforts. DNR requested the extension to allow for more time to dispose of petroleum related waste from sunken boats in the area surrounding the Lake of the Ozarks.
The executive orders have been extended until March 1, 2007.
